Peer Support Group supporting peers!
If you haven’t heard about our fantastic Peer Support Group, you can find out more here. SV2 introduced the service at the beginning of the year, as members of the 12 Week Support Group expressed the desire to continue contact and support with others who share similar experiences in life.
Members decided they wanted to acknowledge the support that helped them and raise money to continue helping others in the future. They are an incredibly proactive bunch and put together a fantastic event.
Hosting at The White Horse pub in Derby, members and other volunteers joined together for a day entertainment whilst raising awareness of SV2. There were some fantastic performances from various artists including The Village, Mae Monypenny, Inanna Street, Rex Portillano-Barr, Angela Martin and Pippa Nayer. Not forgetting, of course, the White Horse’s DJ Minty supporting them all.
There was also an array of stalls with raffle prizes and cakes, and one Peer Support member actually made a first ever SV2 cake (pictured below).
The event organiser from the Peer Support Group said: “Throughout the process we were supported by many local businesses, volunteers and performers who gratefully donated their time, services and products. It would be impossible to list them all.
“The White Horse donated the space, technicians, Dj and equipment, without which it wouldn’t have been possible. I am overwhelmed by the power of people.”
The group raised a total of £926 and we are extremely proud of their efforts.
Well done!
