Jenny’s Story
Jenny raised an amazing £746 for her sponsored swim at Lake Windermere!
Jenny first heard of our charity as an employee at Ashgates who supply the IT services for SV2. A friend approached her and suggested the swim so Jenny decided to go for it.
Although Jenny doesn’t often do fundraisers, she thought it would be a good physical and mental health boost. ‘I love water and felt it would be something to focus on’.
To prepare she joined her local gym and aimed to swim 2 or 3 times a week. The target she set herself was a mile, which was about 65 lengths in total.
The swim took Jenny over an hour, though she admits to talking all the way through it! While she admits she could have done it in less time, it was more important to finish alongside her friends. By sticking together they encouraged one another to keep going and to make it to the end.
When asked how she felt after completing it her words were ‘Knackered! But very proud of myself’. Jenny confessed she’s not particularly sporty and lacks the confidence for doing this sort of thing normally.
Jenny originally set her fundraising target at £200, but came away with nearly 4 times that amount! We hope this gave Jenny some confidence in just what she can achieve.
Well done, Jenny! You are an inspiration to all us other un-sporty types out there!
